Programs & Services

We are committed to connecting isolated communities by leveraging data and integrated communications to develop outreach programs that boosts social inclusion for local communities in South Edmonton.

The work continues

With so many engaged community groups and stakeholders who are laser-focused on a common goal, we are able to respond quickly to the social isolation effects as we identify them.

Right now, in the thick of inflationary pressures, we must ensure everyone can receive the information they need to make themselves healthy and economically independent with a post-pandemic approach. This is a priority not just during this hard times, but for the health and wellbeing of our collective future.

Building Inclusive Communities

The ‘Building Inclusive Communities’ initiative

A 12-month bilingual capacity-building and networking program that will provide monthly information workshops to reduce poverty, address language barriers, and eliminate social isolation for seniors, including elders with disabilities and older immigrants.

Through the ‘Building Inclusive Communities’ project, we will foster social connections amongst seniors, including newcomers and persons with disabilities. Our key objectives are to:

  • Build and connect a network of seniors in Alberta through community services and social activities.
  • Educate at least 120 seniors on financial tips to be self-sufficient and prevent financial fraud, through our financial literacy workshops.
  • Promote social participation amongst seniors, including persons with disabilities by encouraging them to participate in the planning, implementation, and program delivery phases of the project.
  • Provide support for seniors to access government benefits and aids through our monthly information and networking sessions.
  • Tutor at least 120 seniors to use digital tools to communicate, network, and improve their professional or entrepreneurial skills.

Make A Way Foundation delivers the workshop as an ongoing program starting from April 2025.

First cohort / Maiden Edition: April 2025 – March 2026
